Barbara E. Nicastro - Of Counsel Barbara E. Nicastro received her B.A. and J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and is currently of Counsel to Payne & Associates, Ltd. Ms. Nicastro represents a broad range of business and individuals in various transactional and litigations matters, including providing assistance in organizational structuring and financial matters, advising on complex commercial and contract matters, and providing litigation assistance to plaintiff and defendants on various employment and labor matters.
A Philadelphia, Pennsylvania native, Ms. Nicastro is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and Georgetown University Law Center. Ms. Nicastro worked for 13 years as a federal prosecutor with the U.S. Department of Justice where she investigated and prosecuted white collar fraud cases around the country, including tax shelter violations and other criminal tax cases, foreign bribery cases and cases involving security issues and classified information. She also trained Justice Department attorneys and federal law enforcement agents in trial practice, investigative tactics, and substantive areas of federal criminal law and procedure.
Ms. Nicastro has been in private practice since 1990. Her practice areas are commercial and civil litigation, employment matters, general business representation and criminal defense. Commercial clients have included the Government National Mortgage Corporation, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, the Resolution Trust Corporation, Riggs National Bank, members of the legal and medical profession and lending institutions, individuals, and corporate entities in the District of Columbia, Virginia and West Virginia.
